Samia Madi Jebara MD
President Dr. Madi-Jebara is a Professor of Anesthesia and Critical Care at St Joseph University; she specializes in cardiac, vascular, and thoracic anesthesia. She has been at the helm of the department of Anesthesia, Critical care, and Pain management at Hôtel Dieu de France Hospital since 2017.
She serves as the vice president of the Lebanese Society of Anesthesia from March 2022 till March 2024 She is heavily involve. in education and has been the Residency Program Director at St Joseph University since 2019. She also serves as the coordinator of the operating room Committee at Hôtel Dieu de France Hospital. She is the Director of the Medical Simulation Center (MEDSIM) of the Medical Sciences Campus of St Joseph University since september 2023.

Marie Aouad Maroun MD
Dr. Marie Aouad is a Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology at the American University of Beirut,and the Chairperson of the department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.
Dr. Aouad received her Doctor of Medicine degree from Saint Joseph University, Faculty of Medicine, Beirut-Lebanon. She completed her residency in Anesthesiology and Critical Care at Hôpital Hôtel Dieu, Université Claude Bernard, Lyon-France, and at the American University of Beirut, Medical Center (AUBMC). She is certified in Anesthesiology and Critical Care from the Arab Board of Health Specializations and holds a certification in Perioperative Transesophageal Echocardiography from the National Board of Echocardiography (USA). Dr. Aouad’s areas of clinical expertise include pediatric and pediatric cardiac anesthesiology. Throughout her career, Dr. Aouad obtained additional credentials in research, and leadership. Dr. Aouad led the efforts towards obtaining ACGME-I accreditation of the Anesthesiology residency training program at AUBMC first in 2016, and of subsequent continuing accreditations to date. She is a member of various hospital and university committees. She is also a member of the Arab Board of Medical Specialization in Anesthesiology.Dr. Aouad is the author of more than 100 publications in the field of pediatric anesthesia,obstetric anesthesia and perioperative medicine. She serves as reviewer and board member in
several national and international journals and societies of Anesthesiology. She presented several lectures at national and international scientific meetings.

Hicham Jabbour MD
Dr. Hicham Jabbour is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon. He earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Saint Joseph University’s Faculty of Medicine and completed his residency in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care at Hôtel-Dieu de France, Saint Joseph University’s teaching hospital in Beirut. Furthering his expertise, he trained in regional anesthesia at Central Hospital, Nancy II University, in Nancy, France.
Dr. Jabbour specializes in orthopedic anesthesia, regional anesthesia, and pain management. He is a full-time physician in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care, and Pain Medicine at Hôtel-Dieu de France University Hospital.
Dr. Jabbour is deeply committed to medical education and serves as the Graduate Medical Education (GME) Director at Saint Joseph University’s Faculty of Medicine. He is a member of the Specialization Council in Anesthesiology with the Arab Board and the Secretary of the Lebanese Society of Anesthesiologists.
Dr. Jabbour has authored over 30 publications in anesthesia, critical care, and medical education. He has also presented numerous lectures at national and international scientific meetings.

Anthony Ghosn MD
Dr.Anthony Ghosn MD is Anesthesiologist-Intensivist and Medical director at Notre Dame De Secours University Hospital- Jbeil- and cardiac anesthesiologist at La Clinique du Levant- Beirut. Instructor at the faculty of medicine of USEK. Worked in many hospitals and cardiac surgery centers in Lebanon, France and Dubai.

Jean- Claude Stephan MD
Dr Jean Claude Stephan is an Assistant Professor of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and the Head of the Department of Anesthesia and Intensive Care at Notre Dame des Secours University Hospital.
He earned his medical degree and diploma in Anesthesia and Intensive Care from the Lebanese University and obtained a certificate of specialized medical training in Anesthesia from the Free University of Brussels, Belgium. Additionally, he holds the European Diploma in Anesthesia and Intensive Care.
In 2013, he completed a university diploma in echo-guided locoregional anesthesia at the Lebanese University. Dr. Stephan also earned a Master’s degree in Healthcare Analysis from Paris 7 University, a Master’s degree in Public Health from ESA Business School, and a Master’s degree in Methodology and Statistics in Biomedical Research from Paris-Saclay University. Furthermore, in 2020, he obtained a diploma in Clinical Simulation from the Lebanese American University (LAU).
Dr. Stephan has a strong interest in education and clinical research, with numerous published articles and abstracts.

Hanane Barakat MD
Dr. Hanane Barakat is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the LAU Department of Anesthesiology where she holds important leadership positions. She is the vice chair, the Quality Director, and the Residency Program Director. She is the director of the LAU Clinical Simulation Center .
Dr. Barakat obtained her MD degree from the Saint Joseph University, School of Medicine, Lebanon in 1996, where she also completed a four-year residency training in Anesthesiology and intensive care. She then completed a post doctorate Specialized Training in Anesthesia and Surgical Intensive Care at Rene Descartes University, Paris, France. Dr Barakat joined Rizk Hospital in 2009 and LAU in 2013.
Dr. Barakat is interested in Quality and Patient Safety. In 2010, she earned a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Management from the École Supérieure des Affaires (ESA), Beirut, Lebanon and Paris 7 University, Paris, France. She received multiple certifications and completed several trainings courses in quality and patient safety.
Dr Barakat is interested in medical education especially simulation-based education for patient safety. In 2016 she earned a diploma in Clinical Simulation from the LAU Gilbert and Rose-Marie Chaghoury School of Medicine in collaboration with the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She worked on the integration of WHO patient safety curriculum at the medical school program and is responsible of many quality improvement initiatives at the LAU Medical Center Rizk Hospital.

Violette Karam MD
Dr Violette Karam is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Balamand where she has been the Chairperson of the Anesthesiology Department for the year 2021, and a member of the Council of the Faculty of Medicine and Medical Sciences for the period 2021-2023. She was also a Clinical Anesthesiology Instructor in the Lebanese University for almost 10 years. To advance her knowledge in medical education, she earned in 2017 a diploma in Clinical Simulation from the LAU School of Medicine.
Dr Karam received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Lebanese University. She completed her residency in Anesthesiology at the American University of Beirut, where she also got specialized in Cardiothoracic and Vascular Anesthesia. She followed a training in Lebanon and France in perioperative transesophageal echocardiography. She holds a university diploma in echoguided locoregional anesthesia from the Lebanese University.
Dr Karam is a general and a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist at Mount Lebanon Hospital, where she was the Chairperson of the Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine Department for almost 25 years.
Dr Karam holds a master’s degree in Hospital and Health Management from the Ecole Supérieure des Affaires (ESA), Beirut, Lebanon and a master of Sciences – Public Health from Université Paris Diderot – Paris 7, France in 2009. She followed many training courses and workshops on healthcare quality and patient safety, in which she is certified.
Dr Karam is an expert in JCI and Lebanese hospital accreditation. She is a certified coordinator and surveyor of accreditation visits in the Lebanese Hospital Accreditation group of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health. She surveyed many accreditation visits in Lebanon since 2011. She is also a SME in anesthesia and operating room management.
